Authenticity
Individual Counseling
Psychotherapy is an opportunity to grow. You are the expert of your life and I am here to help teach you tools and provide you with guidance along your healing journey. I focus on a person-centered approach which means I meet you where your needs are. Often times this is more than just providing support and help. I work with adults who are experiencing conflicting feelings and who may not be able to express themselves. Being a human can be difficult and complex and I am here to guide you towards your goals and desires. The stress of being an adult can be difficult to understand and process. Let's work towards building confidence and accomplishment. I also work with teenagers and preteens. Being an adolescent in today's world is difficult. There are so many pressures that are not seen by everyone. I am here to advocate voice and identity along with guidance for healing. To nurture our future we must build compassion and empathy.
I accept most insurances.
Psychoeducation
Often times our answers are right in front of us, however, we may not be looking at them. Providing education through a psychological lens allows for individuals to understand and learn. To further acknowledge our human nature may help us with learning about the root of our concerns. I am also an expert in educating about toxic work environments. I provide group presentations and workshops to address this. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions or comments.
Expressive Arts Therapy
"It is difficult to convey in words the depth and power of the expressive arts process. Really, you must taste it to understand it." Natalie Rogers
I have been trained in the expressive arts modalities. I am a Registered Expressive Arts Therapist through the International Expressive Arts Therapy Association. My specialization is in creative trauma processing. Often times we may have negative feelings or associations with trauma responses. This can cause us psychological and physical symptoms. Processing trauma is complex and takes dedication. Using creative expressive arts may help with controlling and processing these previous lived experiences. It may provide you with the insight to heal and to move forward with creative expressions. I am a faculty member of the Northwest Creative and Expressive Arts Institute and provide mentorship and Expressive Art Therapy supervision. I am also a Washington State Approved Clinical Supervisor for professionals obtaining their LMHC. Please contact me if you have more questions.
Nature-Based Expressive Art Therapy
When we connect with nature we are able to heal and grow. Research with Attention Restorative Theory (ART) explains why our brains will reset when we are in nature. We all have a special relationship with nature and when we nurture that we become connected and grounded. Where does your path take you?Utilizing a nature-based approach to expressive arts allows for deep learning of our environment and our inner self. Respecting the earth that we all share allows us to appreciate and acknowledge cultures who strongly engage in this practice. While using a somatic and nervous system response to understanding a relationship with safety and connection (Polyvagal Theory) we explore how nature and external stimuli play a role in our day-to-day functioning while using nature-based expressive arts. Additionally, ancient civilizations throughout time have communicated the importance of understanding their existence of this world while building a relationship with the sky. Understanding lunar cycles may be a way to grow mindful intentions about personal growth and identify additional themes that appear in life. The recognition of indigenous cultures allows for the life force of the earth to continue with her life cycle. It is important to acknowledge that I am a settler upon the land of the Wenatchi and that this land was colonized and stolen.
Ecotherapy
I am a settler that is currently residing in the land of the Wenatchi (P'Squosa). The US government has broken many promises and treaties across this land to the indigenous peoples. The Yakima Treaty of 1855 promised the P'Squosa a reservation with the area that is now known as Leavenworth. Many of Washington State was once inhabited by the Salish peoples. It was the colonizers who dispositioned these first nations with coercive and violent acts. Time would only tell that the treaties that were created "as protection" were not respected and disregarded. We owe our deepest gratitude to the Native peoples of this region and must make commitments towards reconciliation. Please make a donation to local buy land back opportunities or education centers in the area you reside. Creative Heart Counseling continues to annually make donations to the P'Squosa related businesses.Additionally, Ecotherapy is an opportunity to continue your healing outside. Nature may be used as a tool for crisis recovery, stress-related disorders and for the promotion of optimal functioning. As we grieve the destruction of our environments across the world, we are able to look inward to find positive psychological emotional development towards autonomy and a sense of belonging. Psychedelic Assisted Therapy
“It is no surprise that psychedelics, with their activation of deeply healing intelligent capacities, seem to spontaneously engender internal and interpersonal experiences of love.”
— Dr. Adèle Lafrance, Ph.D.
Archeologists have identified evidence that humans have been using medicines with psychedelic benefits for over 5000 years. Western medicine is merely only in its infancy with the psychedelic revolution. As a psychedelic assisted therapist I do not believe that psychedelics are a silver bullet with solving problems. The purpose of integrating psychedelics into your life is to expand your inner healing intelligence. You are the one who has the autonomy and capability of healing. I primarily engage in a non-directive healing approach and encourage personal self-automony in the process. I also want to acknowledge cultural appropriation and psychedelic tourism. It is important to be transparent about these medicines and to recognize their potential and the misuse that can happen. Out of context psychedelics can be harmful through exploitation to the individuals and communities that utilize them as medicine. Even through the medical community itself may engage in a misuse of psychedelics. I strongly believe that honoring the origin and acknowledging cultural considerations are part of the healing journey. I am currently only providing integration sessions and can provide referrals for clinics that administer psychedelics.
Astrology in Therapy
It's in the stars.
Learning about what the stars looked like when we took our first breath can help us understand our motives and meanings. According to Chani Nicholas, "Astrology reminds us that we are exactly as we are supposed to be for good reason. On purpose and with a purpose that we must live out if we want to feel any kind of fulfillment." Modern astrology is always expanding with philosophy. I provide insight into astrology using a Jungian philosophy while integrating a creative expressive arts lens.Understanding archetypes in mythology provides us with a further understanding of the depth and meaning of astrology. Some of the techniques that are used with a therapeutic lens include natal chart interpretations, current transits, future transits, secondary progressions and solar returns. These techniques can help with further exploring our inner selves while exploring our external stimuli.
I provide therapeutic Astrological consultations with using a whole house placement, please inquire if you have any questions.
Archetypal Tarot Therapy
"You are what you do, not what you say you'll do." - Carl Jung
Tarot is ancient wisdom that has been passed down for thousands of years. These archetypes have been used to help people process through situations and experience in their lives. With a creative expressive art lens, the use of tarot may provide additional prompts to help people work through situations and experiences in their personal life.
Tarot has been described by Jung as, "They are psychological images, symbols with which one plays, as the unconscious seems to play with its contents and the cards combine in certain ways, and the different combinations correspond to the playful development of mankind." These symbols may have a deeper meaning for us and may provide light towards our healing process.
